We did it in The Bronx! #commUNITYskate
It’s been a whole week since the magic we created on Kelly Street.
Using the excitement from all skate events happening in Brooklyn and Queens this summer, and still high from our Bushwick Pop Up just last month, Butter Roll teamed up with other skate groups, CIB NYC, Orbit Collective, Skate Info Network, and Thursday Night Skate, to bring to life another pop up event but this time uptown: Bronx #commUNITYskate.
Through community fundraising, social media and word of mouth we were able to host one more skate event in New York and the first for the residents of the Bronx on Saturday, October 17th 2020.
Immense thanks to Uptown Vinyl Supreme and DJ Laylo for the tunes and vibes. DJ Marlon B for the sound. Skate Boogie for the skate rentals so even more could participate. To the skate brands that gave to our raffles. And to our volunteers that helped set up.
There is always an opportunity to learn something new, and this event was no different. We were able to come together to make it happen and it was amazing. But if the most important thing we took away was that, the community supports what is meaningful to them. That they want skating and there is a market there just itching to get back to skating locally. Let’s keep it going, the world really is watching.
Thank you for the news coverage by both News 12 Bronx and Bronx Net. Check out gorgeous photos by the very talented Mario Ruben Carrion here.
